Chavez: A U.S. drone violated Venezuela airspace

President Hugo Chavez on Sunday accused the U.S. of violating Venezuela airspace with an unmanned aircraft, and he ordered his soldiers to put on alert to shoot down spy these devices in the future.

Speaking on his radio program broadcast weekly, the President said the drone had flown over a military base in the western state of Zulmia, starting from neighboring Colombia.

"They're Yankees. They come to Venezuela. We can not allow it" to sum up the president, adding that he had given orders to shoot them.

The United States and British say their presence in the region aims only to fight drug traffickers
